My background overseeing 270,000+ students and managing a budget of over $300 million as a Trustee on the Santa Clara County Board of Education has given me firsthand insight into the vital connection between quality education and job opportunities. As a candidate for the California Assembly, I am dedicated to ensuring that our education system empowers every child to thrive and equips them with the skills needed for success in the 21st century. I am committed to leveraging my expertise to further strengthen our education system and create pathways to prosperity for all our students.
Quality Education for All
Equitable Access: Champion increased funding for K-12 education, directing resources toward vital programs to support a well-rounded education.
STEM and Environmental Sciences: Promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) and STEAM (including Arts) curriculum, emphasizing technology, science, and creativity for all students. Encourage and support underrepresented groups, including girls, to enter STEM fields.
Preschool and Early Learning Support: Push for legislation to support universal preschool programs, especially targeting vulnerable students, ensuring that all children are reading at grade level and proficient in math by 3rd grade.
Strong Partnerships and Community Engagement
Collaboration: I recognize the importance of collaboration between schools and communities. I will foster partnerships that support education, such as mentorship programs, afterschool programs, and collaborations to provide real-world experiences for students.
Parental Involvement: Engaging parents and guardians in their children’s education is crucial. I will support initiatives that encourage parental involvement in schools and ensure that families are active participants in shaping their children's educational journey.
Modernizing Education
Technology Integration: In our rapidly evolving world, technology plays a pivotal role in education. I will advocate for the integration of cutting-edge technology in classrooms to enhance learning experiences and prepare students for the digital age.
Career Readiness: I understand the importance of linking education to future career opportunities. I will push for expanded vocational training, apprenticeship programs, and partnerships with industries to equip students with practical skills aligned with the demands of the job market.
Fiscal Responsibility and Accountability
Transparent Budgeting: I will prioritize responsible budget allocation, ensuring that education funding is used effectively and transparently. I’ll work to direct more resources into classrooms and student services.

Professional Development: Expand access to professional development opportunities for classified employees, helping them enhance their skills and advance their careers.
Teacher Workforce Development: Strengthen the teacher workforce pipeline, especially in early learning, and reduce barriers to becoming an educator.
