CREATING AFFORDABLE HOUSING

A place to call home is more than just a roof over our head; it's the heart of our communities. As a Legislative Director in the State Legislature and a Santa Clara County School Board Member, I've been dedicated to addressing our housing shortage and affordability to ensure that every individual, from seniors to essential workers, can thrive right here in Silicon Valley.

As your Assemblymember, my aim is clear: to increase our supply of housing and affordable housing to prevent displacement, the burden on traffic, and to safeguard our environment.

I've championed policies that strike a balance between job growth and housing needs. From advocating for common-sense city planning to creating new opportunities for homeownership and rental without increasing traffic, my commitment remains clear. Some of my previous efforts include:

  • Standing by legislation that increases affordable and middle-income housing stock, ensuring stability and security.

  • Prioritizing housing for those at risk of displacement due to soaring prices.

  • Supporting homeless students in their transition to higher education and adult life.

  • Streamlining affordable housing initiatives, saving taxpayer dollars, creating jobs, and accelerating the housing search for many.

  • Supporting workforce development, apprenticeships, as well as pre-apprenticeship programs for our County students to get them into high-quality construction careers.

Our community thrives when everyone has a stable place to call home. Imagine a future where parents and grandparents don't have to watch their loved ones leave our community due to unaffordable living conditions.

And it's heartbreaking when teachers, nurses, and transit workers are forced to commute from distant areas that are hours away. My goal is to ensure they can live in the communities they serve, eliminating long commutes and allowing them to be an integral part of our neighborhood fabric.
