Tara Sreekrishnan’s Primary Opponent, Omar Din, Endorses her for State Assembly
Din, who received 12% of the vote in the Primary, endorses Sreekrishnan in competitive Dem-on-Dem runoff
CUPERTINO, CA – On Tuesday, Santa Clara County Board of Education Member Tara Sreekrishnan announced the sole endorsement of Sunnyvale City Councilmember Omar Din for her Assembly campaign in District 26. Din, who received 12% of the vote in the March Primary, endorsed Sreekrishnan and urged his supporters to vote for her.
"Tara Sreekrishnan and I ran against each other in the primary, but I’m proud to add my voice to her campaign,” said Councilmember Din. “Tara has made a real difference for Santa Clara County fighting for our children, our climate and our community - and I know she’ll be the strong voice we all need in the State Assembly. I urge all those who voted for me in the Primary to vote for Tara Sreekrishnan in the November runoff.”
Councilmember Din’s endorsement follows up Sreekrishnan’s announcement that she raised over $380,000 in the reporting period that ended on June 30th. Sreekrishnan continues to build momentum in the months after the Primary, receiving endorsements from Assemlymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan, Assemblymember Liz Ortega, and other members of the State Assembly. Sreekrishnan has been endorsed by over 200 local elected officials, state legislators, labor unions, business organizations, women’s groups, and environmental organizations. Her long history of working in the community as an elected official, nonprofit founder, and legislative staffer has paid dividends in her campaign.
